Royal Sutherland came into existance around 1941 although this demitasse teacup & saucer appears to be from a much later production period.
Sutherland in the tradename refers to the location of their pottery works in Sutherland (Longton, Stoke-On-Trent) and under the Wartime Concentration Scheme the two companies W. Hudson and J.H. Middleton came together, the new company being called Hudson & Middleton and their products had H&M added to the backstamp.

Translucent, meaning if held to the light you can see your fingers through the china
The base china is bright White
Art decorating looks to be transferware, NOT hand painted
Gold gilding applied to the outer rims of both the teacup and saucer
The teacup also has Gold gilding halfway down the back of the "Countess style" handle, not on the sides.
Design is those everlasting "Roses", made famous by Royal Albert (Old Country Roses pattern)
The saucer features one larger artwork (Yellow & Red roses) with another seperate Red "bud" only
The demi teacup features two areas of the larger artwork, identical on both sides of the teacup.
Swirled sides to the teacup and running inside the saucer with a light scalloping on both pieces

Light Brown backstamp design was used in the period 1936 ~ 1941.
