HISTORY:
In a previous life I owned and operated an audio post production facility which dealt in restoration and archival of various media including magnetic tape.
Once the task is done, the tape needs to be safely stored away and this is where these BASF storage cases were used - hundreds of them back in the day.
Quality built German manufactured product, tough plastic with three independent "drop down" front doors, which when opened provides a "runway" for each tape reel to present itself. Push the doors back up and they safely lock into position, keeping the precious tapes inside safe n sound.
I do have a few of the single 7" reel library cases but this unit is not just three of those joined together - it was supplied by BASF as a purpose built triple tape holder. The two internal walls between each reel are not solid and the whole case has been constructed as a "one piece" unit - this means that you cannot just remove one tape container to create a dual tape holder.

Cream (now quite significantly Yellow) drop down access doors - these use a concealed pivot system for each door and every door operates independently of any other.
This door "faces" have empty, smooth areas for the attachment of identification labels
When the doors are pushed closed, they stay closed! There is a small latch at the top of each door to stop it dropping open unintentionally.
Horizontally lockable, meaning that the case has two through holes at the rear and by fitting a long cylindrical rod through these holes, you can secure the case to those either side of it. This is only practical if you intended to just use the drop down door to access the tapes and not be needing to remove the entire triple case e.g for transporting.

The spine of all three doors (the Cream/Yellow part) has changed colour quite significantly over time - daylight does this to the older lighter coloured plastics.
Stored & supplied in a sealed clear plastic packet (for dirt/dust protection)
