HISTORY:
In a previous life I owned and operated an audio post production facility which dealt in restoration and archival of various media including magnetic tape.
Once the task is done, the tape needs to be safely stored away and this is where these BASF storage cases were used - hundreds of them back in the day.
Quality built German manufactured product, tough plastic with a very nice "drop down" front door, which when opened provides a "runway" for the tape reel to present itself. Push the door back up and it safely locks into position, keeping the precious tape inside safe n sound.
Although I had squillions of these ONCE, now there are just a few left ...

Designed for 1/4" magnetic tape (audio recording tape) 7" diameter

Cream (now slightly Yellow) drop down access door - this uses a concealed pivot system
This door "face" has empty, smooth areas for the attachment of identification labels
When the door is pushed closed, it stays closed! There is a small latch at the top of the door to stop it dropping open unintentionally.
Horizontally lockable, meaning that each case has two through holes at the rear and by fitting a long cylindrical rod through these holes, you can secure the case to those either side of it. This is only practical if you intended to just use the drop down door to access the tapes and not be needing to remove the entire case e.g for transporting.
Empty - no magnetic tape is supplied with the case

The spine of the door (the Cream/Yellow part) has changed colour slightly from the original Cream
