Sustainability is the name of the game! Anything (that has been tested and still functioning properly) should be repurposed creating saving in wasted Ee and reducing the poisoning our environment when items are buried in the earth at the local tip needlessly.
Never heard of Ee? It is a concept that creates a measurement of ALL things (not just electronics) that humans have made and the energy used in obtaining the raw material, processing the materials right through to a finished product and even should include the shipping of the item to the distributors/retailers.

VERBATIM (AUSTRALIA) - Powered Loudspeakers (2)
Made in China
Model: SP868
Circa early 2000's
Verbatim has been a major supplier of office and related products for many, many years and I believe they still operate under that name. It suited us to use Verbatim product as we used a lot of their floppy disks way back in the mid 1980's ~ late 1990's in both our office requirements and bulk supply for the software duplication for clients that we undertook in those days.
These were used in our offices to provide a little music to "work" by many years ago, I think we are talking around the 2000's!
Nothing special or pretentious about these, just a small wired stereo speaker system, NOT Bluetooth enabled. Well built, solid plastic casing with the built in tilt stand (providing a slight upwards facing unit) and the usual three controls on the front panel i.e Treble, Bass and Volume.
One speaker has the complete audio amplifier which can provide around 4W RMS audio maximum, plenty for a small enclosed space. The other speaker works as a satellite off the main speaker/amplifier unit, providing the other channel output - the necessary interconnecting lead is provided (maximum 2 metre separation between the speakers)
The rear panel of the main speaker (with the amplifier built in) has the two audio input RCA sockets, the Power ON-OFF switch and a permanently attached 240V AC power lead.
Front speaker grille is metal mesh, protecting the speaker cone behind it well.
The two tilt feet are solid (plastic coated) 8mm diameter spring U shaped
DIMENSIONS:
Each speaker: 170mm H x 120mm W x 120mm D
WEIGHT:
Each speaker: 1Kg
TESTING:
These audio inputs are LINE LEVEL, meaning if you connect to a "normal" headphone output from a tuner or other audio device then all is good. If you plug these inputs into a much lower level signal such as that from a turntable, the resulting achieveable volume will be far too low because the turntable provides such a low level of audio ... an unlikely scenario anyway, how many people have a turntable in their office?
Audio from both speakers was as expected, reasonable quality and plenty of volume. Both tone controls still work too! No scratching noises as any of the controls are rotated. When idle, no mains hum was detected.
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
Clean
NO cracks or broken pieces on any part of each speaker case.
NO significant scratching or marks to any of the surfaces of the cases. On one speaker case there is a slight sign of Yellow tinged plastic, that was due to sunlight hitting one side of the speaker when in it's last location in the office.
This video MAY be useful to someone ... note that this is NOT the units which I have but the same model, the video has text in Russian and I don't think the music is actually coming from the speakers either! He takes you on a tour INSIDE the unit, this may interest some folk but most probably wouldn't be interested!
