HISTORY:

My "world" is 'the arts' and more specifically, music, artwork and hand crafted/decorated chinaware's.

I am not a film enthusiast but an associate has asked me to find new owners for THEIR large collection of photographic and film items ... this is one of those items.

While the world of 8mm/Super 8mm is not my area of expertise, I am doing my best to establish the condition of each item that I am listing.

I tend to be quite detailed in my item descriptions, please READ all the details to decide if this item may interest you.

Now, on with the description ...

This 2x reel motion picture is NOT in an original distributors packaging, but instead in a plain canister/case. The information that follows is from my observations and towards the end of this lengthy description I describe the motion picture when I have actually played the reels.

WALTON HOME MOVIES - Super 8 Film

Commercial release for the Home Movie market

THE THREE STOOGES Go West (1951)

This is the shortened motion picture "Go West" released in 1951 and starring Moe, Shemp & Larry

Labelling information is sparse as the original outer packaging is not provided (if there ever was any), but at least the owner did attach typed labels to each reel and to the outside of one side of the canister.

Leader films are fitted to both reels but without the clip

2x 7" (400 Feet) Smokey Clear plastic reels which are marked as MADE IN AUSTRALIA but with no branding

Single Plain Brown 1.3mm thick "plastic like" canister or case which holds both reels comfortably. Square (with rounded corners) in shape and with a stiple-like finish. To this outer case is a Yellow nylon strap secured with double rivets and a double buckle arrangement - very secure once strapped up but a devil to undo!

There is no manufacturers identification on the canister/case but it is identical to another I had which had a metallic label marked "STAMFORD, Chatswood" - I can find no references to this company online, other than a film production company in the same area but I feel this is unrelated.

COSMETIC CONDITION:

USED

CLEAN

Film stock and 2x reels are undamaged, both reels have the leaders fitted

The reel canister/case is a stiff Brown plastic (two halves) with a securing nylon strap

NO damage to the canister/case nor to any of the reels. This means no cracks, no missing sections and no parts are mishapen due to heat.

Slight "mildew odour" inside the case however the film stock looks clean and shiny (not Grey and powdery!)

NO personal names or other writing on the canister/case and the film reels

TESTING:

Tested with the ELMO ST 1200 I have available, and away we go ....

Both reels have been played, around 10 minutes of each reel

Monochrome film, clean and the images are sharp

Sound however is NOT good - Yes it is consistent (with no "drop outs") but oh dear, where oh where has the high end frequencies gone? The audio is muffled due to most of the audio being in the low frequency range, as though Moe has a handkerchief stuffed in his mouth! You CAN make out what they are saying but this is certainly lacking on the audio side compared to the other films I have played recently.

I am very fastidious and careful with these films and I have now packed EACH of the two reels into individual clear plastic sealed packs and then within the outer Brown canister, which is also sealed.

USED EXACTLY as described
