HISTORY:

My "world" is 'the arts' and more specifically, music, artwork and hand crafted/decorated chinaware's.

I am not a film enthusiast but an associate has asked me to find new owners for THEIR large collection of photographic and film items ... this is one of those items.

While the world of 8mm/Super 8mm is not my area of expertise, I am doing my best to establish the condition of each item that I am listing.

I tend to be quite detailed in my item descriptions, please READ all the details to decide if this item may interest you.

Now, on with the description ...

KEY LARGO (1948)

Bogart plays the character Frank, an ex WWII veteran. He visits Key Largo to pay his respects to the wife of his buddy during the War, she runs a hotel. Frank comes to realise that the guests in the hotel are not "nice guys" and Frank springs into action ... considered by many to be a classic Bogart film

COSMETIC CONDITION:

USED

CLEAN

Film stock and the reel are both undamaged

The styrofoam plastic case is in good condition although I noticed a couple of the corners have very light handling damage - not bad damage just some pointed edges.

Cover slip graphics are clear (front and rear) as is the spine identification and the rear mono printed information is very useful

A slight smell of vinegar was detected coming off either the film or the styrofoam - funny thing, of the few films I can detect a vinegar smell, it is those in the styrofoam packaging that seem to be prevalent releasing this slightly vinegar smell.

NO personal names or other writing on the case or the film reel

TESTING:

Test projector is the ELMO 1200 that I have on hand at the moment.

Film looks to be clean and in good condition, sprocket holes are not damaged.

There is a leader film (marked as FUJI FILM) fitted although it worried me at first because it is slightly U shaped, not flat! I fed it through the ELMO 1200 though with no problems at all.

I ran the film through the projector for the first four minutes or so, to observe the picture and check that the sound quality.

The monochrome picture is very good, no jerking and contrast looks fine.

The sound is crisp and clean, no "noises" and it is easy to follow the dialogue

In my opinion, after this brief test, I am happy that the film is as stated on the case and looks to be in good "technical" condition.

I am very fastidious and careful with these films and I have now packed the film into a sealed clear plastic packet to maintain the current condition and it now patiently awaits a Super 8 film enthusiast who loves the old classics from the "Golden Era" of Hollywood
