HISTORY:
Although I am not very active in the world of radio communications these days, I do seem to "dig out" older equipment which looks interesting - the BAOFENG BF-888S was one of those interesting items.
To really take a look "inside" the 888S I needed to access it via the programming kit so I found a few of these to check out the transceivers and reprogram them ....
Take a look at the advertisement for the BF-888S transceivers HERE
Actually the main usefulness of this kit is the cable, a USB interface to the transceiver. The software is not so special and readily available online although I found lots of different versions, some VERY old.
This kit also did come with a mini CD of software but it's tough going working out which files do what, much of the file names are in Chinese! In the end I just downloaded both the USB driver file (my multi-OS machine needed this) and the software online and set about examining the transceiver programming and then reprogramming every unit so that they do not present a hazard in relation to illegal transmissions and interference to legitimate users, particularly emergency services.
This cable, along with two files, did everything great - I was using Windoz 7 Ultimate and never a hiccup re communicating with the transceivers.
I will supply:
BAOFENG Programming Cable (USB interface at the PC end)
BAOFENG software CD (of limited use to non-Chinese persons)
Two files ... 888S Setup v 1.05 (exe file) & CH341SER (exe file)
The CH341SER file creates a serial port to USB conversion and talks to the BAOFENG chipset used in the USB dongle.
Tell me how you want to receive the two files (if required as you may already have your own favourite software such as CHIRP) - I can write to a CD-R and send with the cable or just send the file directly via email to the buyer (both files are not large)
I noticed that there are sites (particularly in the UK) which have a wide range of driver files for things such as Linux, Mac and even good old DOS - doesn't everyone still run native DOS? I do, very handy for OLD Motorola programming.
This programming kit is new, although I used one to test and reprogram the BF-888S's I am seeking new owners for.
