HISTORY:
My wife "collects" but is changing which type of china/porcelain she wants (now pre-1900's) and she has come to realise that many of our special items need to "leave home" to find a new, caring home to live in.
Our philosophy is love and appreciation for the imagination and creative skills used when designing and making these pieces so many years ago. We are not into "let's make a quick buck" here as it does appear many others like to do ... take a look around online at greed in action with asking upwards of $500 for these Shelley trio's!
Sellers who are only after the mighty $ with asking prices being pushed higher and higher, creates a market that places this type of piece further and further out of reach for the true collector.
When you look (and use) these, consider them as precious examples of human endeavour & skilful creativity.
To treat these pieces as simply a tradeable commodity is so vulgar.
Our asking price for these Shelley pieces reflects our philosophy
DLAT RATING: 10/10 (Darling Look At This!)
Dainty, delicate, very pleasing shape and visually stunning - this trio has always drawn comments from ladies attending previous occasions with us.
SHELLEY - Teacup, Saucer & Side Plate
Made In England
Price indicated is for EACH PIECE, however if all three pieces are selected then an automatic discount does apply in the checkout
Circa 1940's
Fine Bone China - very thin egg-shell like, particularly the teacup
Pattern: Dainty Green
Pattern #: 053
Hand decorated
Background colour is brilliant White
Design: As the pattern name suggests, these pieces are dominated by a bold Green and no other colouring is used. The artwork is a mass of flowers and foliage, all in Green of course. All decorative work has been done by hand and at a very high skill level.
Shape: The teacup is a shell or fluted body type with the saucer and side plate topside areas not being smooth but impressed with the outline of a flower. The side plate is distinctly six sided.
NO Gold gilding has been applied - it's the Green way or no way!
An interesting piece of trivia about this trio ... unlike most other English trio's, this one is much more "symmetrical" meaning that the side or cake plate is actually roughly the same diameter as the saucer. This just makes the appearance of the trio more "neat & tidy" and helps when finding a spot in the crowded china cabinet(s) to place it.
Translucent (you can easily see the shadow of your fingers through the china when held up to a strong light source)
Circa period of 1938 ~ 1966 (based on the backstamp design) but we know for sure these pieces all date from the late 1940's as we were gifted a lot of old Shelley many moons ago which the original owner purchased in the late 1940's, just after the WWII
BACKSTAMP DETAILS:
Makers mark printed on the base of the teacup (under the glaze)
Makers mark printed on the base of the saucer (under the glaze)
Makers mark printed on the base of the side plate (under the glaze)
Green markings off to the side of the backstamp are the decorators markings
DIMENSIONS:
TEACUP: 90mm mouth x 65mm height
SAUCER: 145mm diameter
SIDE PLATE: 150mm diameter
CONDITION:
This first section of the condition report is universal to all three pieces, any difference or flaws are noted below this section
NO cracks

I cannot see any flaws or imperfections with any of the pieces that require a mention - without a lie this is a truly exceptional fancy tableware teaset trio.
