Removed from equipment some time ago, I did not record nor am I able to recall which equipment this knob was used in.
UNIDENTIFIED MANUFACTURER - Plastic Knob
Country of manufacture is unknown (but I suspect Japan)
The body is shaped so that the knob itself becomes a very dominant pointer. I seem to recall these were used on the front panels of very OLD equipment (1970's) to easily indicate switch positions.
Top insert is Aluminium but it is not solid, a disc of Aluminium attached to plastic underneath.
Inside, the shaft bush is metal as is the double hex head grub screws (Iron)
Designed for use with round 1/4" control shafts and because it is a double grub securing system, once in place it will stay there! This is important particularly if the switch under control requires a bit of force to move between positions.
The sides of the plastic knob are vertically ribbed, making for an easy grip
DIMENSIONS:
Knob body is 7.75mm OD x 18.45 height
The main part of the body is circular but the pointer extends out to one side a further 7.75mm and is the same height as the knob body. This is one pointer that you cannot misread!
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
Clean
NO damage to the Black plastic body at all i.e no splits or cracks
NO marking or scratches of any significance to the plastic body
HOWEVER
The top Aluminium disc has what I call "Aluminium Rot", fine lines across the surface of the metal going in random directions. In most situations these will not matter but I do also know that with a bit of work, this "rot" or oxidisation can be buffed off (using metal polish) - I used to tackle this problem with some old Technics turntables which had the same issue on the platter outer edges.
The inside metal bush is secure and the threads for the steel grub screws are also clean.
The grub screws have gone slightly "rusty" due to oxidisation of the steel used but this in no way affects the operation of the screw.
This interesting knob from "way back when" is now safely tucked to bed in a sealed clear plastic packet, waiting to adorn another front panel.
