Michael Cassidy was the founder of Golden Avatar, a songwriter and musician who was also 'into' the Hare Krishna movement - this album is his creative fusion of spiritual values with modern Western music genre's.
Golden Avatar is actually a reference to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Indian Hindu spiritalism. Hare Krishna is a branch of Hinduism.
I remember being confronted at airports in particular by the Orange clothed Krishna devotees back in the 70's (damn, I remember all that chanting!) but don't remember them offering a copy of this album at the time ... see the blog below about these 'free' albums
HERE is a person who appears to have much deeper knowledge of the history behind Michael Cassidy and this album, plus some track reviews
Michael wrote all of the songs, along with the music, played guitar and sung the vocals. He was supported by a myriad of musicians playing instruments such as Piano, Organ, Synthesiser, Bass guitar, Drums, Percussion, Congas, Soprano Sax, Vibes, Harp, Flutes, Trombone, Trumpets and even Strings. Full credits to all the musicians involved are listed on the back cover
The interesting illustrative artwork on the front cover was created by William Garland whereas the rear artwork illustration was drawn by Carl Ramsey
GOLDEN AVATAR - A Change Of Heart
Sudashan Disc
Cat# SD 1
1976
Australian release
Cover is in good condition, meaning that there are no seam splits, no tears and only light edgewear from handling. I do notice however a couple of areas with a hand written code, not a name - these being the front top right corner and rear top right corner. The cover also seems to have very light ~ light "spotting" marks to the cardboard. I have sterilised these but unable to remove them.
New inner clear plastic sleeve
Vinyl is in very good condition, visually inspected under a bright White halogen light source and I can see just a couple of very light scratches or marks on either side. Just taking a look at the vinyl doesn't cut it, you need to actually play the entire album to make an accurate judgement on the condition so I then played the ENTIRE album, every single track. There are no significant issues with surface noise nor click pops at all - perhaps just a single click or pop at times but nothing serious.
TRACKS: World Beyond The Sky, Questions Questions, Bhagavad-Gita, Seers Of The Truth, You're Not That Body, A Change Of Heart, Swetadwip, Oh Govinda, Time For Going Home
