Removed from early 2000's IT Tape Drive equipment (DLT)
Fully functioning prior to removal, equipment "parted" as it is now obsolete
3 Phase Motor with control electronics
Motor: Copal LBT79-001
Measures 80mm diameter
Centre bolt in the motor shaft is used to secure mechanical drive from this motor to other equipment - in the previous equipment this was via a toothed gear wheel but this could just as easily be a belt drive.
3 phases (3 coils)
Control Board:
The primary component of interest is the MP6403 (3 phase motor drive)
The module is controlled via a 9 way ribbon cable with connector and the pinouts at the connector are:
Pin 1 = Motor drive enable 0=Off 1=On
Pin 2 = Ground
Pin 3 = Direction control 0=CCW, 1=CW
Pin 4 = Output from sensor A 2.5V center
Pin 5 = +12V In
Pin 6 = Ground (internally connected to pin 2)
Pin 7 = Output from sensor B 2.5V center
Pin 8 = Output from sensor C 2.5V center
Pin 9 = +5V In
The 12V rail needs to be 2.5A or greater capability
Here is a link to a very interesting discussion about controlling this module https://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/threads/3-phase-bldc-motor-servo-help.45258/
CONDITION:
Excellent, no damage to the motor or the control board
TESTING:
Known to be fully operational prior to removal from the equipment, no further testing was made after removal
Since removal from the equipment, this motor is now within sealed plastic
