Try looking in the user manual, if you have one.
If the manual is not available, try to see if the remote button layout looks "right" compared to your old remote - a bit hit & miss though, particularly difficult if the old remote is missing!
Please be aware that every single remote sends a unique code to the equipment under control, just because you may have a Pioneer DVD or CD player, it does not mean this remote will control it, this remote is designed to work with specific models from Pioneer.

We used to have the DVD/CD player that this remote controlled but the player has long since "left this earth"
The model was a DV-C503, this is a nice Pioneer player which has a 5 disc carousel turntable. I also believe this remote should control the Pioneer Elite DV-C36 which is also a 5 disc carousel system but has extra features such as the possibility of connecting to an external DAC.

Battery compartment clean and undamaged (no rust or corrosion due to leaking batteries!), this uses 2x AA batteries
TESTING:
Being a used remote, I check any remote to the best of my ability
My testing method is to insert batteries and "look" (using my security camera's) for the IR emissions from the remote control and ensuring every single button sends out an IR code. I must assume though that the codes being sent are correct, I no longer have the DV-C503 carousel player unfortunately.

Stored/supplied in a sealed plastic packet to maintain its current condition
Batteries will NOT be supplied (2x AA batteries) to prevent any issues with Australia Post (they are very risk adverse to shipping packages with batteries inside) and also this keeps the shipping weight down to a minimum
