Ossie Clark was a fashion designer extraordinaire, particularly during the 1970's, providing fashion the music stars of the day and himself also achieving "stardom" status!

Born 1942, Died 1996

So who were these music stars that Ossie designed clothing for?

Mick Jagger

Marianne Faithfull

Anita Pallenberg (German-Italian actress who had many public relationships with members of the Rolling Stones)

Twiggy

Eric Clapton

George Harrison

Patrick Procktor (very well known English artist who specialised in figure depiction, giving visual effect to the subjects psychological being - in particular their emotions and attitude)

And many more ...

This book shows the contents of Ossie's personal diary, from 1974 until 1996 (5th August) when Ossie was stabbed to death by a former lover. The book is a really interesting read, the notes he made, the sketches throughout are uninhibited (no censorship) and you can follow his life from the exciting times of the 1960's and 1970's to the depths to which his life had sunk in the 1980's and beyond. This is a person who had a real roller coaster ride in the game of life.

The Ossie Clark Diaries

Published by Bloomsbury (UK)

1998

Hard cover

380 Pages (not pocket sized!)

Medium size format (240mm x 160mm x 50mm thick)

Most plates (photographs) are monochrome but there are a few in full colour. The cover jacket is full colour

Divided into chapters dealing with the diary contents of each year starting at 1974 until the year of his passing in 1996

Of course he had a life before 1974 but did not diarise it. In 1988, realising that his diaries may be published, he retrospectively wrote an additional 30 pages about his life (in the same diarised form) prior to 1974, actually beginning in 1955.

These "add-on" years are included in this book.
