HISTORY:
Like all valves or tubes, the 5U4 is was a venerable workhorse in a wide range of electronic equipment. We first encountered this tube in the most wonderful tape machine (for it's day) - the AMPEX 200A from the mid 1940's - these machines (and of course a lot of other audio equipment) used the 5U4 rectifiers in the power supply section.
Can't remember (or never seen) the 200A?
This tube is from our workshop spare parts, time for me to find new owners for the few tubes that I have left now ...
We always had a number of audio related valves in our audio post production workshops, for some of our vintage gear and in emergencies when a musician was suddenly were in dire need ... Please note that I do NOT service any equipment for other people any longer so these components no longer have any purpose for me.

Been around since the "dawn of time", this is a modern incarnation of this very well known tube. Commonly used in the vintage music industry in the power supply section.

Old Stock (manufactured approximately 2008)
In the original box, and there is no test result information (which we always did upon receipt of stock) and in fact, I can see the box (s) had never been opened prior to my taking the photograph.
Just one tube available of this type, give it a new home as it is so sad being an orphan! It's mates, the EL34's, 6550's have all gone to live in other people's equipment.
