Paragon China (1919 ~ 1960) was based in Longton, Stoke-On-Kent and produced very high quality fine china with a range of stunning designs, particularly breakfast settings.
Over it's history, the company was awarded a number of Royal warrants and eventually Paragon became part of the Royal Doulton group (1972)
I have other Paragon chinaware HERE
PARAGON - Teacup ONLY
Made in England
Circa period 1960's (based on the decorative technique and backstamp design)
Fine White China
Translucent, meaning if held to the light you can see your fingers through the china
Hand decorated (confirmed) because if viewed VERY closely I can see the brush strokes and even though the artist has used dots in some areas (around the edges of the art), they are all of different sizes and obviously hand applied.
Scalloped top rim
Gold gilding to the teacup scalloped rim, each side of the up-turned handle and around the base of the teacup
The pattern depicts multi-coloured pansy flowers with foliage, two designs with one being much larger than the other.
Mouth of the teacup is 80mm diameter (standard teacup capacity)
BACKSTAMP DETAILS:
Both the decorative technique used and the backstamp design strongly suggests this teacup dates from the 1960's
(Black printed)
PARAGON
FINE BONE CHINA
ENGLAND REG'D
There are no artist nor gilder's markings
COSMETIC CONDITION:
CLEAN
NO cracks
NO fleabites
NO discolouration inside or out
NO discolouration inside the teacup due to tannin (tea)
NO crazing
Gold guilding is in very good condition overall with just two small sections on the teacup handle (near the top) where handling wear has occurred but it is only slight. This is the area that most often shows wear in older teacups.
