HISTORY:
While not a "work of art" like so many of our very pretty, dainty chinaware's that have found new homes or are looking for new homes, this terracotta "bubbly" cooler will bring a touch of class to your 'drinkies time'.
Why keep your expensive, high quality "bottle of bubbles" in a crass acrylic or plastic container? It just isn't the done thing ....
This terracotta clay Champagne Cooler was bought back from the family homestead after my recent "dash" to New Zealand but as we do not partake in a drop very often, it seemed more sensible that another home should be found for this very nice cooler.
Oh, and sorry but the "bubbles" showing in the photograph are NOT included, that is a special bottle for my wife's BIG birthday bash coming up! Only the Champagne Cooler is offered
Henry Watson Pottery have been in operation for around 220 years although the area they are based in has a "clay" history which dates back much further in time. Totally British manufactured, no Asian stuff here and no machine made products as Henry Watson's still work their pieces by hand.
The company history makes for very interesting reading and you can find out more HERE
II Rating: 9/10 (I'm Impressed Rating)
HENRY WATSON POTTERY - Champagne Cooler
Made in England
Circa 1980's (most likely) - this is my best recollection of when this cooler was 'migrated' from England over to NZ
This remains a current product from the pottery, take a look HERE
Brown terracotta clay based
Lightly impressed labelling with a Black print infill on one side
Extremely smooth finish all over
Top 'lip' with straight sides and flat base
DIMENSIONS:
125mm diameter diameter mouth/sides x 205mm height
Suits common 'bubbly' shapes from straight to wide base bulbous bottles
WEIGHT:
1.4Kg (this cooler will not fall over very easily due to the weight and wide stable base!)
COSMETIC CONDITION:
USED
CLEAN
NO damage to the lightly impressed Black infill printed artwork
NO chips!
I CAN see what appears to be a very fine hairline crack on one side (external) which is approximately 40mm long from the base. This 'crack' is very fine and there are no signs of this crack inside the cooler at all. I have tried to take a photograph but it may be difficult to see the crack.
VERY LIGHT/SLIGHT handling colour changes, particularly around the external base area
SPECIAL NOTE:
While the terracotta is a nice earthy colour and perfectly compliments a good bottle of bubbly (also originating from the earth), it can show handling marks due to the natural oils excreted by those handling the container. These marks will show as very slight differences in the Brown terracotta colouring and it is a good idea to carefully wipe around the outside of the cooler with a clean dampened cloth or sponge after use.
Don't forget that as this cooler is A$35, the shipping around Australia (with tracking) is fixed at $9 (to anywhere within Australia) or if you added a few 'other' items, shipping could be FREE when the order value exceeds A$75 (again, only within Australia)
A classy Champagne Cooler for your next celebration and I am very experienced in carefully and safely packing such 'delicate' items, it is all wrapped up in bubble-wrap waiting for it's next "bubbly time"!
