Brown, yellows and orange portraying a tree and a sunset, or if you like, a sunrise.

Trees can represent many things but are often personal, about the self and quite frankly a tree such as this without the foliage is not so good. Such a tree may represent loneliness, sadness etc - a bit depressing.
The background colours could also be taken two ways, if a sunset - the fading of life, nearing the end

But then again, if the tree is taken not as a personal symbol but of our environment, then it may suggest the dying of our planet.

But on the more positive side, if the colours represent a sunrise then it could be considered as new beginnings, a dawning of a new age.

So many things to ponder.....too deep for us these days so perhaps someone else can ponder such things.

On the rear of the plate is an unknown makers symbol/mark

Quite frankly we cannot work this out either - perhaps a bee or a bug or just a "doodle" - no initials or dating
