Beautiful (but flawed) piece of pottery from the well known REMUED Potteries (Premier Potteries, Preston)
REMUED POTTERY (PREMIER POTTERIES, PRESTON) Inkwell Vase
Small 'ribbed' Vase
Drip glazed
Colouring begins at the top with a sandstone colour and then abruptly changes to a vivid emerald green down to the base
Design Shape #33 (Later series)
Remued used a number of numbering schemes over the years, HERE is a link to information about #33, the later series.
Produced in the period 1941 ~ 1955
Inscribed into the base is 33
There are no other markings or inscriptions
Vase measurements:
73mm diameter base (widest part of the body) x 83mm height
40mm vase 'mouth'
NO cracks
NO crazing externally although we can see crazing inside the vase and the inside base.
One small chip on the underside of the top lip, not visible when viewed from above AND a fleabite on the inside of the vase opening. Hopefully you can see these in the photographs I have provided.
We are big fans of the drip glaze visual effects and this vase is a brilliant example of this glaze/colouring technique from Remued
