Diana Pottery operated from Marrickville in Sydney during the period of 1941 until 1966, now very iconic and collectable
Once you see a piece of Diana pottery you want more - over the years we gathered together quite a collection and are slowly finding pieces in our storage units and selling them off.
Here is a typical example of Diana pottery from the 1950's, a very popular piece for the times - posy vases or dishes.
This piece is called an oval shaped posy ring vase
Lovely colouring and glazing in such typical Diana craftspersonship - Diana pottery is instantly recognisable.
Measures 21cm x 15cm and 5cm high
Slight inward curve to the top lip (helps keep water within the ring)
Glazed inside and underneath but the artwork has not had much attention paid to it in this area, same goes for the underneath - an unfinished rough look.
But the main body of the vase and inner ring are simply lovely to behold
The only makers mark on this piece is 52 - nothing else
NO chips or fleabites
NO significant crazing - probably due to the very heavy glazing used which gives the deep lustre to the piece
A beautiful example of Australian historical ceramic craft from 60+ years ago
