SWINNERTON'S (Hanley England) - Small Bowl
IVORY or HAMPTON IVORY was a tradename that was held and used by Swinnerton's
Circa 1940's ` 1950's
Opaque material, meaning that you cannot see through the chinaware when held to the light
Cream coloured background
Flower design to the rim and dropping down into the bowl area, very skilfully applied by the artist (look closely at the flower petals)
Hand Decorated
Measurements:
145mm diameter x 35mm high
Weight: 150g (quite light for a bowl)
Being quite a small bowl, this was probably intended for desert use or perhaps as a child's bowl

Artist's marks just to the right of the backstamp. These were critical for the worker as this identified their completed pieces and formed the basis for their payment (paid per piece not per hour or day)
