We had (and still have) a lot of very nice English, German and Australian fine china, porcelain and ceramics.
Some were bought because of the potters skill and craftsmanship, others because of the visual appeal.
This ceramic definitely fits into the latter class - always placed within view of the breakfast table, this sunflower brightens up any day!
CERAMIC HISTORY:
We bought this back in the late 1970's due to it's visual appeal - it makes you feel instantly 'bright' and cheerful. Some pieces 'jump out at you', this is one of those pieces.
The potters name, Di Cooper, is imprinted on the base - not dated.
Try as I might, there seems to be practically no information on the potter. We bought this in Victoria but not from a studio, so it is anyone's guess where Di was located.

CERAMIC CHINA - Dish

DIMENSIONS: 160mm diameter (petal to petal) x 40mm height - not a tiny/small dish, I would call this medium size - similar to a large saucer in size.
Sunflower shape and decoration
Hand decorated
Bright cheerful colouring but not gaudy
Footing ridge at the base
3x potter's wheel depressions on the base
The only marking (imprinted/hand written) on the base is
Di Cooper
Opaque, meaning if held to the light you cannot see the shadow of your fingers through the ceramic.
Supplied with a suitable wire display stand so that the dish is facing almost horizontal to enhance those 'happy happy' feelings when you look at the dish.
Alternately, fill it with colourful candies when the grand kids come over - they will squeal in delight!
COSMETIC CONDITION:
Clean
NO discolouration
NO cracks
NO crazing
One small (actually tiny) 'chip' noticed while taking the photographs, never seen it before. You have to look VERY closely and I hope the photograph I have included helps - it is so small I had trouble getting a decent shot of the chip area.
