ROYAL DOULTON - Sugar Bowl With Lid
Circa 1971 ~ 1986 era
Although quite 'heavy', this chinaware is translucent, meaning that if held to a light source you can see the light through the china.
Style: Oval shape with two side handles
Pattern: Mandalay (T.C. 1079)
Mandalay was a pattern made available by Royal Doulton as a complete dinner service
Artwork design: White flowers with foliage, Yellow, Greens, Brown and Bright White are the dominant colours used.
Gold gilding applied to the top rim, both handles on each side and the lid finger grip
I believe the artwork to be transferware, not hand painted. It took a very close inspection to establish this though because the artwork is 'raised' and feels like hand crafted work but the elements of the artwork are too consistent, too precise with no signs of 'human error' at all.
Backstamp is printed (under the glaze) in Light Grey
(Royal Doulton graphic)
