Paragon Vellum China Tea Set Circa 1919 - 33 INCOMPLETE

Paragon produced some very high quality bone china with outstanding decoration.

This partial tea set is dated between 1919 and 1933 based on the back stamp

The design name is unknown and many of these early designs have been lost due to a fire at the Paragon premises.

We called it the Art Deco Fruit collection anyway.

Each item has a vellum (transfer like film) used as a border, the fruits (orange, lemon and either grapes or plums with foliage) have all been handpainted - the painting is not perfect as you would get from a transfer, it is raised (paint thickness) and the colours of say the oranges vary very slightly between each piece.

Sugar or Sweet Bowl

Octagonal Cake Plates - 2 pieces

NO tea cups or saucers (shame)

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

MILK JUG:

Gold gilding on handle and top lip - excellent, little or no wear

NO chips

NO fleabites

NO cracks - although we do notice a hairline mark down one side but this same line is not inside the jug - a water test does not show it as a crack.

NO crazing

A light brown spot is noticed here and there on this piece, under the glaze - it still looks great but gives the appearance of being a little dirty

Decorative work is in excellent condition

SWEET BOWL:

Gold gilding around the base and top lip - excellent, little or no wear

NO chips

NO fleabites

NO cracks

NO crazing

Decorative work is in excellent condition

CAKE PLATES:

On both pieces

Gold gilding in the central area and outer edge is in excellent condition with little or no wear

NO cracks

Decorative work is in excellent condition

ONE plate has a very small fleabite to the underneath at one of the octagonal angles - very small but it can be felt with the finger.
