Myott Son & Co based at Hanley began production at this works in 1947 and continued until 1991 however the name changed to Myott Meakin in 1977
We have estimated the age based on the design and general appearance, especially the crazing that is evident
Myott Son & Co
Soup Tureen with six soup bowls
England's Countryside series
Absolutely gorgeous hand-painted artwork
Vibrant browns, orange, greens and royal blue
Gold gilding to the rim edges
a) Soup tureen
External dimensions: 10" diameter x 3" high
Bowl dimensions: 7" diameter x 2.5" deep
Artwork is stunning and undamaged
NO cracks
NO chips
NO fleabites
b) Soup bowls (6)
External dimensions: 8" diameter x 1.5" high
Bowl diameter: 5" diameter x 1.25" high
Again, the artwork is stunning
NO cracks
NO chips
A couple of fleabites UNDERNEATH the bowls - we do not consider these to be of a serious nature
All pieces are glazed with what appears to be a "honey glaze" - golden yellow in appearance, we have seen other English potters use this type of glaze
All pieces are clearly showing crazing both inside the bowls and underneath - this crazing is not nearly so evident throughout the artwork though.
The backstamp is a mix of impressed and brown print
