SADLER
ENGLAND
Very well known English teapot maker, famous for their original Betty Brown teapots.
Quite frankly, the art craftsmanship looks amateurish - there is no carefully painted edges, even colouring - it almost looks to us like a pre-production piece, sort of like the artist presented it to the company and said "what do you think of this design?"
We have carefully checked the painting and it is indeed underneath the glazing - this isn't a plain white Sadler which someone has painted over later on.
Very obviously handpainted, blue coarse brush strokes and yellow "splotches" - what we would call very "minimalist" - more like a impressionist painting on a teapot than a fine piece of craftsmanship. Broad strokes used in painting, brush strokes can easily be seen.
