Classic J & G Meakin
Godfrey pattern
Cake/Side plate
Circa 1912 ~ 1937 - it is quite difficult dating the SOL backstamp items and we have had pieces right through from 1912 until 1937 with this backstamp. No assistance from the pattern either, very little information about this pattern and no-one else seems to be selling one.
Cream background, predominantly flower themed artwork with heavy gold gilding to the rim edge
Hand painted (unlike transferware, there are small artist imperfections all around the artwork - that's the human touch!)
Instantly recogniseable SOL (Sun) backstamp
The SOL backstamp dates from 1912, Sunshine product
The SOL mark was first used in 1912
Backstamp text (pale blue)
REGD SOL 391413
