Classy, classic J&G Meakin chinaware
DLAT Rating: 9/10 (Darling, Look At This!)
J & G MEAKIN Saucer ONLY
We cannot put a specific year of manufacture for this saucer but estimate it to be between 1912 (when the SOL trademark was first registered) until the late 1930's
These pieces were part of an extended family estate and we worked out that they are most likely to have purchased these in the mid to late 1930's
Cream background colouring
Pink central rose surrounded by a wide lime green band with a band of gold gilding to the edge.
Hand painted - NOT transferware
Extensively decorated with a band of patterned gold gilding and then around the outer edge/rim.
Backstamp reads:
(SOL graphic)
J&G MEAKIN
ENGLAND
Artist ID marks on the base of the saucer, these were used to identify who contributed to the production of each piece from the factory - the workers were paid on a "per piece completed" basis, not by the hour! These artist marks positively show that the chinaware has been hand-decorated.
CONDITION:
I have just three saucers remaining, the description below relates to ALL pieces - they are all in the same condition

Artwork is clean and undamaged
Gold gilding has only the very lightest of wear - very nice condition.
