Grindley Potteries based in Tunstall UK made a range of flower based designs (amongst many other pieces), this serving dish is a great example of their creations of the period and completely and skilfully hand painted, in excellent condition
The dating is based on the sailboat ship backstamp which Grindley used during the period 1936-54, most likely this piece was in the 40's or 50's - not really an art deco design of the 30's
The colours are clean and vibrant, the artist has painted feature outlines and then in-filled with colour strokes.
Carry "ears" at each end of the dish
Dish measures 280mm (ear to ear) and 150mm wide
20cm height
Perfectly suited to serving of cold cuts such as ham or even use as a presentation dish for some lovely pieces of cake or biscuits.
CONDITION:
Overall we consider this piece from our Grindley collection to be in excellent condition.
NO cracks at all
NO chips or other damage
NO discolouration to the base clay or the artwork
NO crazing (amazing)
Light scratches from normal use (knife marks) but these are not serious and to be expected from occasional use.
