Enoch Woods produced a LOT of the blue/white, pink/white tableware and the designs often featured English scenery.
I have never been able to accurately work out what the pattern of this teacup was called, nor the year of being produced although I am pretty sure we are talking about the 1950's era
Please see further details below about this cup and things that "don't make sense"
Enoch Woods Teacup ONLY
Pink pattern/design - no other colours are used and no gold gilding
Transferware, this has not been hand painted
Dimensions: 93mm top diameter x 60mm high
DESIGN MYSTERIES:
Unlike the majority of pink Woods tableware, this teacup does not feature a true "English" scene. Its a bit of a "grab bag" actually, some flowers, foliage and strange "fantasy like" trumpet leaves or symbolism. Actually if you look at the cup side-on, these peculiar graphics appear to form a W
The top rim border is "dabs" of pink for the complete circumference of the top. I have seen a couple of designs with this type of border but nothing quite like this one.
Inside is slightly strange too. Most Woods teacups have a pattern inside but going ALL AROUND the inside some even right down to the bottom. This cup however has just one "bunch" of flowers. Compared with many other Woods items, this teacup is quite "under-decorated"
The handle is the old style with the raised top, quite a small hook and obviously for a lady with thin fingers!
Decoration on the handle is just 3x triangles with spots between each triangle
Over the years I have kept an eye out for any others of this design but never found one. I also have taken a very long hard look at images online but nothing matches up with this cup, so it is a mystery pattern!
