Colclough China Ltd was formed in 1937 and operated their works at Longton, Stock-On-Trent called Vale, thus the name Royal Vale. Many potteries used the name or location of their works on their products.

Translucent china, meaning that when held to the light, you can see the shadow of your fingers through the chinaware teacup

Hand gold gilding applied to the top-most lightly scalloped rim and the back (only) of the handle

No artwork at all, all over White finish

Dimensions:

87mm diameter mouth or 105mm diagonal including the handle

70mm height

BACKSTAMP DETAILS:

Grey printed backstamp design strongly suggests this saucer was produced in the period 1950's ~ mid 1960's based on the Crown graphic sitting on top of an oval outline, within the oval is the text of the backstamp.

COSMETIC CONDITION:

CLEAN

NO cracks

Gilding is in very good condition with no signs of handling or washing wear to the rim or the handle decoration.
