Colclough China Ltd was formed in 1937 and operated their works at Longton, Stock-On-Trent.

Bone China
Bright white base
Translucent china, meaning that when held to the light, you can see the shadow of your fingers through the plate
Cake or Side Plate ONLY
Shape: Square (with depressed corners) scalloped rim
Pattern: G589 (identified within the backstamp)
The artwork design comprises of two groupings of flowers, bluebells and possibly Yellow primroses with lime Green foliage.
Gold gilding (heavy) applied to the outer rim
Artwork is definitely hand painted, as is the Gold gilding work. This is supported by the artist and gilder marks on the underside and a close examination of the artwork reveals that distinctive "human touch" with small differences in colouring, outlining etc being visible.

Corners are rounded with "depressions" in each

COSMETIC CONDITION:
I have two of these side plates, for all intent and purposes they are identical in condition EXCEPT of course very slight differences in the artwork - these were hand painted after all!

NO cracks
NO crazing
NO discolouration to the artwork
NO wear is apparent to the artwork
Gold gilding is in very good condition
