Burgess & Leigh, based at the Middleport works in Burslem, Stoke On Trent (North Staffordshire) was a pottery with a long and distinguished history, most well known for their fabulously decorative jugs, teapots etc and they moved into tableware in the early 1930's. Burleigh is the combination of their company name, Burgess & Leigh.

Measures: 7 inch (177mm) diameter
Outer rim, hand applied gold "dabs"
Yellow patterned/raised design band
Two gold inner rings
White central area

CONDITION:
PLATE A
Wear to the outer rim decoration gold "dabs" in places
Yellow patterned ring is in very good condition
Some wear to the inner gold rings
Light knife marks/scratches to the central area
Underneath of the plate is very clean and unmarked
Makers mark is clearly visible and dates from the late 1930's - early 1940's
