Burgess & Leigh, based at the Middleport works in Burslem, Stoke On Trent (North Staffordshire) was a pottery with a long and distinguished history, most well known for their fabulously decorative jugs, teapots etc and they moved into tableware in the early 1930's. Burleigh is the combination of their company name, Burgess & Leigh.

This design originates from the 18th Century although of course, the piece does not.
Transferware
NOTE: This transferware is quite 'coarse' in texture with small dots or lines used in the creation of the design, almost as though the transfer medium was cloth based, not a film.

No Gold gilding at all is used in the design - this is everyday tableware
DIMENSIONS:
120mm wide (handle to spout) x 85mm height
Top mouth is oval shaped, 65mm x 50mm wide
Nice smooth, wide spout to ensure the jug does not 'dribble' while pouring!

NO crazing observed (dry and wet tested)
NO chips or fleabites, the usual problem areas are the spout and the handle and there are no issues here at all.
