One of the oldest potteries in England, established by John Aynsley I at Longton in 1775 and synonymous with English fine bone china and elegance
DLAT Rating 6/10 (Darling Look At This!)
AYNSLEY - Mauve Saucer ONLY
Circa 1934 (positive identified the year, Aynsley had a very orderly dating system!)
Translucent bone china, meaning that if held to the light you can see the shadow of your fingers through the china
Design: No idea what this design was called, silver/grey foliage with a very pale Mauve colouring, the base background is a bright white china.
The gold gilding hand applied to the top rim only
The inside ring (where your teacup sits) is a dark gray/black colour, not gold gilded
DIMENSIONS:
Outer rim: 140mm diameter
Weight: 150g
BACKSTAMP DETAILS:
The saucer has this backstamp text (green)
(Crown graphics encompassing AYNSLEY)
ENGLAND
BONE CHINA
Artist's mark (Mauve colour) is visible and below the backstamp in Gold hand printing is I 143 I /8 this being the gold gilder's mark
These marks were important for the worker to be paid for their work, per piece not per hour)
CONDITION:
NO cracks
NO chips
NO fleabites
NO signs of glazing breakdown (Dry observation and Wet tested)
Gold gilding wear to the rim is extremely light (if any) and is in very good condition
HOWEVER, the saucer 'bowl' does have some scratching/marks to the glaze and in some areas, there is some light affect on the graphic artwork (light though) The central dark gray/black ring also shows light wear.
I mention these things not because they are terrible to look at but upon looking closely, they can be seen which is surprisingly unlike the teacup!
