This outstanding vase was made in Spain, looks great in our lounge room but we are redefining our lounge room appearance so this vase needs to find a new home.
This is "old glass" - we have had this piece (along with the other art glass/coloured glass) for many years, probably around the 1970's we recall.
These creations are very hard to find and similar quality art or coloured glass items in a store such as David Jones, the retail asking prices will absolutely shock you.
Unknown maker *** there is a company logo but we do not recognise it
The blue label on the base (outside) says:
DECORATIVE GLASS
CAREFULLY CLEAN BY HAND
MADE IN SPAIN
There is also a separate Noritake paper label securely attached to the base but we do NOT feel this piece has anything to do with Noritake - we have no idea if the Noritake label should be on the base but as it is extremely well stuck to the base, we have made no attempt to remove it.
This Noritake paper label says:
NORITAKE
DECORATIVE COLLECTION
Decorative Glass Vase - Large
132mm diameter "mouth"
400mm height
6-7mm thick glass (as measured as best we could at the base of the vase, measuring the thickness of the sides. The lip of the mouth is much thicker, 12mm
Made in Spain
Beautiful colour gradients from an orange/yellow at the top down to a deep blue/indigo at the base
We can see some seams so we believe this is pressed glass. It has not been hand blown.
The colouring appears to come not from the glass but some sort of film on the outside of the glass. This film is secure, tight but it does have the appearance of some bubbles or creases.
This is why we have always heeded the instructions on the label - CAREFULLY CLEAN BY HAND
Do not use hot water to clean, we did this with another piece (accidently) and destroyed the film - beware!
The glass walls are THICK and overall the vase/decorative piece is very heavy (3Kg).
Dimensions: 400mm high x 133mm diameter at the top lip and 130mm diameter at the base
