Purchased by us in the 1970's while in Europe
Frosted clear glass base dish (6) ***When photographed, the glass appears a blueish colour but in natural daylight they do appear clear & colourless.

Hand Painted decoration
This artwork is hand painted from UNDERNEATH the dish in reverse, that takes quite some skill!
We often discuss this, imagine trying to paint from the underside of the dish, especially the flower petals for example - first the orange, wait for it to dry and then the yellow, which covers over the orange previously painted making it extremely difficult to work out where the previous painting actually is - all while viewing the "work of art" from the topside.
Each dish has slight artwork differences to every other dish, such is the nature of human skills - we are not perfect machines!
The paint used looks to be an enamel type which has a glossy finish, the application is quite thick and can be felt on the underside with your finger.
Colours used are bright and vibrant, these are very "bright happy" dishes
PHOTOGRAPH NOTE: The photograph colours are true and realistic with no electronic enhancement having been made but note my comment about the appearance of the clear glass base material, it appears a blueish colour but is in fact absolutely colourless.
The gold gilding has been hand applied and you can see small "human" imperfections in the application but these imperfections are very small EXCEPT on one dish (only) there is a very short section where the gold gilding is substantially no longer there. See my photograph of this one dish.
Of course these were cleaned after our infrequent use but please be VERY CAREFUL as the gold gilding will not take kindly to being vigorously rubbed!
ONLY wash in warm water, never place in the dishwasher and certainly do not use any strong chemical cleaners or abrasive cloths.
