HISTORY:
Never heard of Wangrove Pottery?
They began operations in Queensland, 1986 under the control of Rudolf Dybka. Mr Dybka was well established in the Australian ceramics industry and since the late 1960's he operated a number of different potteries. If you would like to know more about the interesting career of Rudolf Dybka, take a look HERE
Oh by the way, if you come across some of Mr Dybka's SIGNED vases, keep them! They are now considered highly collectable (and hard to find)
WANGROVE POTTERY - Child's Egg Plate
Circa 1990's (we purchased a "ton" of Wangrove around the early 1990's - these ceramics were sold like "Tupperware" back in those days - personal one to one selling by a host to a small gathering of prospective "clients" with a social atmosphere, a very personalised method of selling. These Wangrove products were generally not available through retail stores).
Design is quite different to your run-o-the-mill egg cup, here we have an egg cup with saucer combined - excellent to keep all those egg shells from messing up the breakfast table!
Cream base ceramic colouring with an Olive Green rim, simple hand painted graphic of a teddy bear with balloon & the central cup is decorated in a bright green inside.
DIMENSIONS:
142mm diameter
25mm central area height
This is quite a "stumpy" egg cup but it holds an "700g" egg with no problems! (See one of the photographs)
BACKSTAMP DETAILS:
Stamp printed in Light Grey
Stamp is quite difficult to read (faint in spots)
Running around the circumference of a large circle, the text
MADE IN AUSTRALIA HAND DECORATED
In the centre of the circle
WANGROVE
COSMETIC CONDITION:
NO cracks
NO crazing
NO chips
NO discolouration
Yes, the graphic art (teddy bear & balloon) is pretty "basic" but that is how it is! Not damaged at all
