MIKASA - 'Contemporary' Tea Set (Trio)
Contemporary because most of our china dates from the early to mid 20th Century and this trio has the conveniences of oven, dishwasher and microwave safe!
1980 ~ 2006 is the time period this design was in use by Mikasa
Made in Japan
Oven, Dishwasher & Microwave safe
White base ceramic
The ceramic is opaque, meaning that if held to the light you CANNOT see shadows of your fingers through the material.
Pattern: F3003 Silk Flowers
The artwork design comprises soft, pale coloured flowers (variations of Pink) with foliage. The emphasis is on the 'softness' of the colouring, the design does not jump out and bite you!
The trio set I am offering comprises these three items per trio
TEACUP: Ribbed edges, Dark Green top rim decoration with the artwork all around the sides. This is an 'Western Size' teacup, not intended for the local Japanese market which tend to be much smaller cups.
Dimensions: 79mm high x 88mm diameter 'mouth'
SAUCER: Octagonal shaped, Dark Green decoration to the outer edges with the artwork flowing into the centre of the saucer but the area where the teacup sits is left plain (less chance of artwork wear)
Dimensions: 148mm x 148mm
SIDE PLATE: Octagonal shaped, Dark Green decoration to the outer edges with the artwork flowing completely across the top surface, there is no plain area in the centre.
Dimensions: 208mm x 208mm (oversize side plate)

COSMETIC CONDITION:
I have TWO Trio sets available, this condition report applies equally to either set.
ALL PIECES ARE CLEAN
NO cracks
NO crazing
NO discolouration - the artwork is in superb condition
NO artwork wear on any piece (including the single dark green edge trimmings)
NO chips
NO fleabites to the teacup BUT each saucer and side plate has just ONE small 'dot' ON THE UNDERSIDE ONLY which looks and feels a little like a fleabite but could also be a manufacturing flaw (like a little blemish in the glaze coating). These are not large by any means and just one on each piece. NO discolouration has occurred due to these flaws.
Very attractive variation on the usual "English Country Roses Or Flowers" design that is very common with English chinaware
