What is the connection between Le Tallec, a world famous porcelain craftsman and painter and Tiffany?
Camille Le Tallec was a French craftsman and artist of very high quality porcelain items, supplying to royalty and high society throughout the world.
In 1961, Le Tallec began working in collaboration with Tiffany & Co (USA) and then in 1990, the Le Tallec studios were incorporated into Tiffany & Co - just before his death in 1991.
In 1995 Le Tallec moved the studios from rue de Reuilly to avenue Daumesnil, Paris - and the date codes from 1995 all begin with a D and increment by one year in the secondary letter so the date code DG clearly indicates 2001 as the year of manufacture. The date code is in the centre of the back stamp, between the L & T (blue writing)
M.MF is the artist/painters name - MF is an asserted painter at Le Tallec
The Kimono design is interesting - at first glance it appears very Asian in nature, the hat, the facial features and the long beard are very typical depictions of an Asian gentleman but the strange thing is the bird sitting within the bird loop - it appears to be a kookaburra!
The major artwork painting is in gold however those darker areas around the face, hands and feet are silver grey in colour although not metallic in appearance, a dark grey but without a significant lustre.
There are NO faults:
NO cracks or chips
NO wear to any of the gold or grey artwork, including the top edge
NO discolouration to the piece
This highly prized authentic Le Tallec/Tiffany pieces are very difficult to find
