Janet DeBoos has dedicated her life to craft ceramic art and is recognised as an international ceramic artist and educator, bringing Australian ceramics to the world stage.
Her works could be broadly divided into complex, rich and beautiful works of ceramic art and her Harlequin craft domestic ware.
Two of her ceramic works are owned by The National Gallery, Canberra (Large Vase & Qing Tree Vase) and her works are widely considered as highly collectable pieces.
If you are like us and would like to know more about the artist, the paths that they have walked with their art and achievements, have a good read of this paper HERE
HISTORY:
We are a family who appreciates, enjoys and used to collect art in it's many forms. We used to travel the country looking for "special pieces" during the 1970's ~ late 1990's but our days of gaining new acquisitions is now long past, we don't get out much any more!
While we are now surrounded every day by wonderfully creative works, it has dawned on us (eventually) that some pieces had to go into the big wide world and find another caring home which would appreciate them.
Reluctantly, this piece from Janet DeBoos Harlequin domestic ware range drew the "short straw" and will be leaving us - reluctantly!
Here is a lovely photograph of other Harlequin ceramic pieces, just gorgeous don't you think?
Beautiful Barium Blues shifting to Greens and then to deep rich earthy golden coppery Browns which portray the rich colours of the earth and the sky
BRINDABELLA CERAMICS (Janet DeBoos) - Cake Plate With Dome Lid
This piece was "given birth" by Janet DeBoos in the late 1990's as this is when we purchased a number of her works.
Seems strange saying "given birth" but think about it ... once upon a time there was this lonely lump of dirt (clay) and only due to the skills and imagination of the creator (the artist) has it been possible for the transformation from a lump of clay to a lovely piece of craft ceramic for all to enjoy!
Heavy base white clay

A very well crafted ceramic piece, symmetrical with gorgeous colouring - this is not 'just' a cake plate but a DeBoos! (Oh darling! have you seen my DeBoos?)
SPECIAL NOTE:
Although we have other pieces from Janet DeBoos (which are NOT leaving home) we still are quite attached to this piece and had one last "afternoon tea" recently. If you have significant, beautiful ceramics designed for domestic use, please use them - give your lovely pieces a "purpose in life"
Oh the cake? It was a very smooth, creamy slice of gorgeous New York Cheese cake and is NOT included!
Yummy!
