6 early Australian Esse Design ceramics
Extremely simple repetitive hand applied (stamped) decorative artwork under the glaze.
Quite frankly the artwork is "sloppy" and not done to a high standard, the colours of the hearts for example are patchy and the line paintwork is not too accurate.
We kept these for their early Australiana historical value, not their beauty or craftsmanship!
NO crazing
NO cracks
NO discolouration
The artwork is very simple and rather roughly decorated - this is not your high class pottery!
We believe these to be very early Esse Design product, made here in Australia and although there is contemporary Esse Design ceramic products currently available (using the same back stamp logo) they are now a Chinese made product.
This pottery is clearly marked Made In Australia.
These pieces have always caught the eye of visitors to our house, perhaps the simplicity of design or just that "1960's appearance".
These are quite heavy and strong, meaning they would be fine for everyday use but I would strongly suspect NOT Microwave or Dishwasher proof!
We never used them, just sitting in one of the display cabinets - a bye-gone era of Australian homeware pottery.
DESCRIPTIONS:
NO pieces have chips, cracks or crazing (cracked glazing)
Yes, plenty of poor application of the design meaning that solid colours are patchy (at best) - this is not from wear and tear, these were not well decorated to begin with - made for the home market and at a low price point I think.
4x Dinner table boats

All with the same design
All have a roughly consistent size and shape
1x Large table plate, Oval shape
Measures 360mm x 260mm
Similar but different design/colouring to the other items
Red heart in centre
Orange around the edging
Slight dimple in the plate bottom, very small and it is from the potting/glazing - it is not damage from use.

Again, totally different colouring and design to any of the other pieces.
When looking at these pieces, it is easy to see that each piece is individually crafted and decorated by hand.
