Historic Australiana
Elischer Potteries were founded by John (Wally) Elischer, the son of John Elischer who had emigrated to Australia in 1935 and John (Snr) was a Viennese trained sculptor. The design of the vase indicates this was produced in the period 1950's to 1960's although it is very Art Deco in design and visually "attention grabbing"! if your decor suits this type of design.
Stamped imprint in the base, along with the stock number and also a "stick on" gold metallic label on the side.
These were originally mass produced for the retail stores of the day, if you made a trip down to Sydney's largest retail store (Anthony Hordern's) you would have most likely seen these ceramics sitting on the shelves.
Elischer Ceramic Flower Vase
Stock # C72
Pink to almost a Purple blended colour gradient finishing in an almost gold appearance (like a gold gilding) at the foot of the piece
Dimensions (medium size): 210mm high x 210mm total width x 100mm wide
Backstamp imprint:
Elischer (flowing writing)
C72
CONDITION:
Clean
ALMOST NO damage (no chips, no substantial cracks, no leaks!)
NOTE: At the base area on ONE SIDE ONLY there seems to be some "rubbing" of the finish, showing the ceramic base. This is small and not visually disturbing (if such things disturb you!)
There is INSIDE the mouth of the vase a light, short crack - it can just be seen in one of the photographs (black colour) but this is really insignificant and it is NOT VISIBLE on the outside of the vase - it looks to be a glaze crack, not a more serious ceramic crack.
In any case, water tested to be sure and there are NO LEAKS!
