ARTWORK HISTORY:
Our family is very much into "the Arts" in all it's forms, from music to creative art to chinaware and even classic old (quality) technology!
Our focus has always been landscapes, both Australian and New Zealand but over the years we have gathered far too many and new homes must be found for our "excess" artworks.
Back in the 1990's we purchased a couple of these paintings by this artist as they reminded us of areas we had visited over the years but I do not know the specific lake/area that the artist created for us here! While it is nice to know some information about both the artist and the landscape scene, it is afterall the art that really matters.
This original oil is one of those artworks which sadly must now leave home!
K. MULLER:
I suspect the artist is an amateur artist, certainly no readily available information could be found. Australian based for sure and we suspect in NSW but more exact information we do not know.
This painting and another from the same artist was hanging in a little regional area second hand store which had a lot of nice artworks and we loved these paintings at first sight as they "ticked a lot of boxes" for us.
Some comments about the artists technique.
While the lower part of the painting is fine and realistic to a typical lakeside scene, what really took our eye is the technique used for creating the gumtree's. The foliage and trunks have a lot of detail and it reminded us of a very nice Taylor artwork that we have. We love the realistic detail and the way light has been used in this painting.
K. MULLER - Lakeside Jetty
We do not know which lake and surrounding area that the artist was looking at but it looks very similar to areas we have visited just North of Sydney, in the Central Coast lakes area.
Dated by the artist 1990 (front and rear)
Original Oil on board
Signed in the bottom left corner (Light Green)
Artwork measurements: 244mm wide x 290mm high
Frame measurements: 350mm wide x 400mm high
Frame is wooden, pale colour wash and with extensive gold gilding
CONDITION:
Artwork is clean
NO issues with flaking or artwork damage observed
NO issues with artwork discolouration
Some light knocks to the gold gilding in places around the frame.
The heavy wooden frame is in very good condition and also undamaged.
NOTE: The canvas frame is quite insecure within the outer frame because only 3 nails have been used, no tape. It would be a good idea to add more nails but if that is too difficult (it's a little tricky to do this) then apply framing tape all around the rear of the canvas frame.
Cloth border is clean and without "spotting"
The original hanging cord has been removed (for ease of shipping) and will need a new one attached (Nylon cord which is stapled on both sides)
Shipping is no problem, we take great care in packing especially delicate items such as this painting.
