In our massive music collection there are some mysteries, this is one of those mysteries!
'Back in the day' I had a large collection of record label releases, including Blind Records and it's later reincarnation, Half A Cow. Most of the great music has found new owners but a few stragglers have been discovered and this is one of those.
This is a pre-production pressing, white label with only the Catalogue number on Side A and nothing on Side B
I used to have a complete catalogue listing for all of Blind Records releases but it seems to have gone M.I.A and I cannot find out anything relating to this particular release so the information I can provide below is scant.
The genre is rock pop, it is a 'real band' not some synth stuff and the lead vocalist is female on both sides. There is also additional female vocals, particularly on Side A but I wouldn't like to say they are an all female band - 'Girls With Money' jump to mind but then...
I tried to hunt down the songs by noting some of the lyrics but also found nothing...
SIDE A: "You (as in yoooooouuuu sung drawn out) true colours coming through (not it's not a cover of Cyndi Lauper's nor Split Enz songs!)
SIDE B: "Everybody needs just another day" is an often repeated verse
The matrix code on Side B provides a clue too, TRUE COLOURS could be the single song title but I cannot match this up with a local band of the time.
It serves no purpose living here with me now so off this record goes to another 'home' - probably a collector of all things 'Blind Records' or the Sydney indie music scene of the 1990's (where a lot of the artists signed to Blind Records came from)
If you don't know much about Blind Records and Nic Dalton in particular, take a look HERE for a wealth of information ... still waiting for that movie!
