Historical Australiana music
A proud song about a proud nation
The release of this song was a tribute to Australia Day, 1968
God Bless Australia is a song created by Jack O'Hagan, a rework of that well loved song Waltzing Matilda.
Full lyrics are printed on the rear of the cover.
Jack O'Hagan wrote over 600 songs, including 'Along the Road to Gundagai' and 'Our Don Bradman'. O'Hagan also composed scores for silent films and stage shows, dance music and advertising jingles.
Performed by the television station, GTV-9 (Melbourne) orchestra under the direction of Brian Rangott (Musical Director GTV-9)
Solo vocalist was Neil Williams, long time performer in Australian television...well known as the voice talent in the Mortein jingle "Louie The Fly" 1962
GTV-9 Melbourne is still operating although from different premises and no orchestra these days!
This release was sponsored by the now defuncted Australian petroleum company, Ampol.
Ampol was a proudly Australian petroleum company which actively promoted Australian culture.
Ampol began merging with Caltex in 1995 with complete absorption by 1997
