This is a NZ pressing
Excellent record Excellent music
Tubeway Army was WAY AHEAD of their time, they broke the punk mould created by so many exciting, angry, outrageous UK punkers with the very strong "Gary Numan" electro new wave style, it was no wonder the he left his previous "punk" band Mean Street because he was considered by other band members as being "too creative".
Tubeway Army members:
Gary Numan - keyboards guitars vocals
Paul Gardiner - bass
Jess Lidyard - drums
UK new wave/punk band, formed by Gary Numan and his best friend Paul Gardiner. Gary Numan went on to a solo career and a while later Paul Gardiner (Bass) sadly passed away from a drug overdose at just 26 years old. Jess Lidyard is Gary Numan's uncle.
This release (like Numan's solo album The Pleasure Principle) has it's peculiarities, for these reasons:
Gary Numan was signed to the record label Beggars Banquet
The album cover (rear) and inner printed lyric sheet refer only to Beggars Banquet (Catalogue BEGA 7)
HOWEVER the record label is Atlantic, marketing by WEA Records but no mention of Beggars Banquet on the record label
This is definitely a NZ pressing based on the matrix code, the gatefold cover and the rear of the cover states it is printed by Image Printing - a NZ company
Tubeway Army - Replicas
Beggars Banquet - Atlantic Records
Cat# 600046 (BEGA 7)
Matrix codes: (etched) 600046 A, 600046 B

New Zealand release
Gatefold cover is in very good - excellent condition, barely any edge wear at all. No tears, no writing on the outside of the cover. Includes the printed inner lyric single sheet.
Downgraded from excellent only because of two things:
a) the inner lyric sheet has suffered dampness at some stage, light yellow spotting is visible but otherwise in good condition
b) Light graphic damage to the front of the cover, top right hand corner just above the S in REPLICAS - most likely a clumsy label removal in the past.
In all other respects, excellent - no other signs of mildew or dampness effects
The previous owner has hand written their details in these areas:
INSIDE the right hand side of the gatefold
Record label Side 1
The name has been obscured for privacy
New inner plastic sleeve
Vinyl is in very good - excellent condition, inspected each record under a white halogen light source and I can see NO scratches but a couple of lines which look like some sort of water mark but overall this is a remarkably clean copy. I then sat down and had a good listen to the entire album....
Surface noise is not an issue, there is some VERY LOW LEVEL click/pop as the styli crosses this strange looking "water line" but I suspect another decent clean up will fix this. It looks for all the world like someone has cleaned the record in the past and not dried it off properly. The labels are completely unaffected, no bubbles and no marks.
This is a REALLY good play, not just the vinyl condition but the music - every song is great but of course a stand-out is "Are "Friends" Electric?" to name just one song, but just when you think you have the "sound" of the band pigeon-holed, along comes a song like You Are In My Vision - very rock.
New outer protective sleeve
