UK band leader, Geoff Love decided in the 1970's to go into a totally different direction and with the help of producer Norman Newell they gathered session musicians, talented song writers together which resulted in the unleashing a highly explosive mixture of exotic drums, gigantic brass layers and electronic sounds.
This was the totally unique Mandingo sound.
For me, this is the BEST music from Mandingo - very tribal with a wonderful blend of instruments, keyboards and very funky guitar. Here is some of the instruments used to produce this great music ...
Tumbas, bongos, guiro, cueca, claves, conga drums, cow bell, bass drums, marimba, xylophone, boo-bams, timbales, african squeeze drum, temple block, tambourine, chinese gong, tubular bells, bell tree, glockenspiel, cabasa, maracas, percussion, tuned percussion, jawbone, piccolo, bassoon, soprano saxophone, baritone saxophone, horns, tuba, celli, pianoforte, organ, electric piano, electric hapsichord, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, synthesizer

1979 - this Record Club release was made 6 years after the original in 1973
Australian W.R.C release
Cover is in good (minus) condition, there are obvious signs of handling and being constantly taken out and put back into the record library (in the form of vinyl rings showing) but there are no seam splits or writing on the cover.
New inner plastic sleeve
Vinyl is in good condition, visually inspected under a bright white halogen light source and I can see a couple of very light scratches on either side. Just looking at the vinyl is no way to judge a record so I then (once again, and with pleasure!) played this album ENTIRELY, every single track, and there are no significant issues with surface noise or click/pops - if that jazz rock sound is your thing, this is an album that must be listened to! Fantastic tribal beat music which really stirs the soul!
Supplied in new outer protective cover
ALL TRACKS ARE INSTRUMENTAL - powerful tribal rhythms in a funky, contemporary jazz style
Tracks: Mandingo, Black Rite, Medicine Man, Jungle Wedding, Chant Of The Virgins, Sacrifice, Tiger In The Night, Black Fire, Moon Goddess, Pagan Ritual
