UK band leader, Geoff Love decided in the 1970's to go into a totally different direction and with the help of producer Norman Newell they gathered session musicians, talented song writers together which resulted in the unleashing a highly explosive mixture of exotic drums, gigantic brass layers and electronic sounds.
This was the totally unique Mandingo sound.
For me, this is the BEST music from Mandingo - very tribal with a wonderful blend of instruments, keyboards and very funky guitar. Here is some of the instruments used to produce this great music ...
Tumbas, bongos, guiro, cueca, claves, conga drums, cow bell, bass drums, marimba, xylophone, boo-bams, timbales, african squeeze drum, temple block, tambourine, chinese gong, tubular bells, bell tree, glockenspiel, cabasa, maracas, percussion, tuned percussion, jawbone, piccolo, bassoon, soprano saxophone, baritone saxophone, horns, tuba, celli, pianoforte, organ, electric piano, electric hapsichord, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, synthesizer

Another fact that makes this release quite unique (from a technical viewpoint) is the fact it is quadraphonic encoded (SQ system) - you will only hear the 4 channels if you have the correct Quad decoder - once upon a time Quadraphonic was the "killer sound" that would wipe out stereo but with later developements such as 5.1 - quadraphonic just never became mainstream. I once heard this album in quadraphonic, it was like being surrounded by the musicians - drums, guitar, keyboards all around, amazing experience but these days it is very difficult to find a quad decoder unfortunately.
This record will play as normal 2 channel stereo on a standard sound system, you do not need a Quad decoder to play the album.

Cover is in very good condition overall, on the front there is a very small split in the seam (top right hand corner) and lower left hand corner has a small area of graphic damage. The rear is showing an obvious (but not terrible) vinyl ring. Other than that mentioned, no seam splits, no writing, no tears. light creasing to the spine and one area near the spine (front) with small graphic damage. Rear is showing a light vinyl ring. No writing, no tears, no seam splits and clean.
New inner plastic sleeve
Vinyl is in very good - excellent condition, inspected under a white halogen light source I can see barely any significant marks or scratches on either side EXCEPT Side A a couple of tracks in and also just before the runout. I then played both sides and despite seeing these scratches, this vinyl plays beautifully on both sides. Fantastic tribal music which really stirs the soul!
