Tired of the usual British, American, Australian punk rock?
Here is some great music that will broaden your experience, from the Central Asian country currently called Tajikistan. Closely linked with Russia (they invaded Tajikistan in 1922) but the country gained their own independence after the Civil War in 1997.
Size (143,000 sq Km)
Population (9 million people)
Not such an interesting place, for example in the capital Dushanbe, the tourist spot that is a "must see" is the world's 2nd tallest free standing flag pole, Wow! Can't wait for that one...
So, here you are in this small country, bored out of your brain staring at this wonderful flag pole, so what do you do? Organise a band and produce some great grass roots punk and classic rock - this album is a compilation from 8 bands plus one being a side-project of another band in the lineup.
Put it on the turntable, crank up the knob to "10" and let er rip...
Underground Tajikistan - Dushanbe Punkers & Rockers
Tian An Men 89 (France based label specialising in giving opportunities to artists/bands who have very little opportunity to release their music commercially due to civil war, lack of any pressing facilities etc) The label name is reference to the Tianamen Massacre (天安门大屠杀) in 1989
Cat# TAM026
2006
French release - Limited Edition
Cover is in very good condition, no writing, no seam splits or tears, very light edge wear from handling. This is a limited release NUMBERED copy, rear top right hand side indicates 500 copies pressed and this is number 195 (I think, it's a bit hard to read the handwriting)
Some English text but mainly Russian text
New inner plastic sleeve
Vinyl is in very good condition, visually inspected under a white halogen light source and I can only see a couple of very light scratches/marks on each side. Just taking a look at the vinyl is not a good way to judge the condition so I then played the compilation album ENTIRELY, every single track, and there are no issues with surface noise or click/pops. Some of the recordings are live and pretty "rough and ready"
New outer sleeve
ARTIST - TRACK
(Live performances from 1994) Zlo (Jack Rock/Lucifer) - Benches, Baby, It Doesn't Matter Anymore, My Malice
Kide & The Jeans Community - Eurcharist (Taken from the album Old Songs About A New War)
Ragnarock - The End Of Something (Thrash genre)
Leroglif - Synoptics
Zapadny Kvartal (Also later known as Western Block) - Autumn To Blame
Noch (Side project of Lucifer from Zlo) - Eye
Khorog Rock Band - Theven Darna, Live In Khorog
These guys were one of the first rock bands in the city of Khorog which is about 500Km from Dushanbe
Zvukovaya Artyel - Only Twice, Prodigal Children
(Live from Chkalovsk) Trush-Oba - Untitled (probably the worst recording quality of all the above, shocking earth hum/buzz and mic recorded, not a direct feed from a desk)
