Traditional Filipino folk songs for dancing, actually from the Ati-Atihan Festival
The Ati-Atihan Festival is a Philippine festival held annually in January in honour of the Santo Niño (Holy Child or Infant Jesus) in several towns of the province of Aklan, Panay Island.
Many of the songs on this recording are region specific, see the track listing below for details
Most are instrumental only
This specific release deals with traditional folk songs/dancing from the Philippines but the album was actually released in France.
Looks to have been part of a series "Carnaval De ..." with music from Mexico, Haiti, Trinidad and this release
Carnaval Des Philippines - Carnaval De Ati-Atihan
Playa Sound Records (French label)
Cat# PSTZ 2004 & SF 201 (two catalogue numbers on the rear cover)
197? (exact year of release is not known but it would have been in the late 1970's - early 1980's)
French release
Cover is in very good condition, no writing, no tears, no seam splits but on the rear (only) I can some mildew spots. I have cleaned/sterilised the cover (as I do with all the music I offer) The rear of the cover is in both French and English. It explains a bit about the Festival and the unique instruments used such as the jew's harp, nasal flute, the cithara, Gongos, 4 & 6 string guitars etc
New plastic inner sleeve is supplied
Vinyl is in very good condition, inspected under a white halogen light source and I can only see a couple of very light scratches on each side. I then played both sides entirely and there are no significant issues with surface noise or clicks/pops - nice playback.
Supplied in new outer protective plastic sleeve
